More than 300 passengers buy tickets for reopened Mawlamyine-Yangon train in two days

Mawlamyine-Yangon train service, which was temporarily suspended, has now resumed and more than 300 passengers have taken it from Mawlamyine railway station in two days, according to the station’s statistics.

 

Due to a mine attack by terrorists, No.686 train coaches and railroad were damaged and a blockage happened between Theinseik station and Donewon station on Mawlamyine-Yangon railway, that is why Yangon-Mawlamyine train schedules were cancelled temporarily. Railroad repairs were completed on 23 March, however train service was resumed on 25 March for security concern.

There were 41 passengers in upper class and 49 passengers in ordinary class totalling 90 passengers from Mawlamyine station rode No.82 train from Mawlamyine to Yangon, which resumed on 25 March. Similarly, 102 upper class passengers and 139 ordinary class passengers totalling 241 passengers rode No.82 train departed from Mawlamyine railway station on 26 March.

 

Mawlamyine-Yangon train schedules have resumed daily as usual and tickets are being sold from 7:00am to 3:00pm at Mawlamyine railway station ticket counter, and upper class ticket needs to be booked 3 days, 2 days and 1day ahead and ordinary ticket needs to be booked a day ahead, announced by Mawlamyine railway station.
