More than 44000 tonnes of maize worth US$10million exported via sea and border routes in November

Through sea and border routes, more than 44000 tonnes of maize worth US$10million were exported in November, according to the Ministry of Commerce’s statistics.

 Of total export 31389 tonnes by sea, 31170 tonnes were exported to Philippines, more than 190 tonnes were exported to China (Taipei) and 29 tonnes were exported to Singapore.

Similarly, of total export 12988 tonnes through border trade route, 12000 tonnes were exported to China and 988 tonnes were exported to Thailand.

The country earned US$7.601 million from 31389 tonnes export by sea and US$3.39 million from 12988 tonnes export by border trade route.

Myanmar sells corn to Thailand, China, Vietnam, Singapore, India and Philippines, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

Currently, Myanmar has 1.2 million acres of corn plantation which produces more than 2.6 million tonnes. Of Myanmar’s export items, corn is the second largest export earnings goods.
