MoU system allows over 700 Myanmar workers to enter S Korea in July

A total number of 797 Myanmar workers entered the Republic of Korea in July, according to the statement of the Myanmar Embassy in Seoul.
For agricultural, livestock, and industrial jobs for foreign labour, Myanmar is one of the countries included in the South Korea MOU system.
A total of 797 Myanmar workers were sent to South Korea from 7 to 26 July – 613 for industries, 164 for agriculture and 20 for construction. They were sent from Yangon to Incheon Airport.
A labour attaché from the Myanmar Embassy welcomed the workers, informed them of the rules and delivered them to their workplaces.
In Myanmar, the EPS-TOPIK qualification exam was held 13 times, which is a part of the Employment Permit System (EPS) in Korea. Workers who have passed the exam are sent according to the schedule.
Twenty-five per cent of the remaining 3,900 workers has been sent from 1 January to 30 May 2022 in the post-Covid-19 period.
In the last year, 42,832 workers who passed the EPS-TOPIK exam, were legally sent to South Korea. Around 27,000 Myanmar workers are currently working in South Korea. — TWA/GNLM
