MR introduces RBE trains for Mandalay-Thazi rail, easing commuters amid Bago flood

To facilitate the commuters, the Myanma Railways (MR) will run temporary RBE (railway bus engine) trains for the Mandalay-Thazi trip from 11 October.

A devastating flash flood caused by heavy rain near Bago Station temporarily shut down railway service for Yangon-Mandalay trips from 8 October 2023. To facilitate the commuters, the Myanma Railways (MR) will run temporary RBE (railway bus engine) trains for the Mandalay-Thazi trip from 11 October, said an official of Mandalay Central Railway Station.
“The RBE started to run on the Mandalay-Thazi railway part from 11 September. This is a temporary trip for the smooth transportation of the passengers. The train departs at 6 am and arrives at 9:15 am. It departs from Thazi at 2 pm and arrives at Mandalay station at 5:20 pm,” he added.
The fare is K5,000 for the whole Mandalay-Thazi trip with 14 stops.
Yangon-Mandalay express railway trips will resume depending on the flood condition and after post-flood reconstruction of the railway track, road parts and crossings.
The public will be notified of the resumption of the trip after the post-flood necessary preparations. — Maung Aye Chan/KK
