MRF sets fair market prices of rice varieties for January

In its announcement of the fair market price of rice for January, Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) set K 125,000-K 135,000 for a 108 lb/24 pyi bag of Shwebo Pawsan (10-5 per cent broken) bag of rice.

Similarly, MRF set K 70,000-K72,000 for a 108 lb/24 pyi bag of Aemahta rice (25 per cent broken), K 72,000-K 75,000 for a bag of Aemahta rice (15 per cent broken), and K 75,000-K 78,000 for a bag of Aemahta rice (10-5 per cent broken).

In addition, MRF determined the prices of K 80,000-K 85,000 for a bag of 90-day, Pakhan, Anyathar and special Aemahta types (10-5 per cent broken), K 95,000-K 100,000 for a bag of Ayeyarmin and Ayeyar Padetha (10-5 per cent broken), and K 100,000- K 110,000 for a bag of Ayeyarwady Pawsan (10-5 per cent broken).

Other set prices include K 90,000- K 100,000 for a bag of other Pawsan (10-5 per cent broken) and K 110,000- K 115,000 for a bag of Ayeyarwady Kyarpyan (Baykyar/Taungpyan) (10-5 per cent broken).

This instruction has to be followed by MRF and its affiliated associations, wholesalers, exporters and rice firms. There may be price variations of 5 to 10 per cent in actual market prices and modern trade sales with consumer packaging in supermarkets and mini-markets, it also stated.

These set fair prices are for new rice of 2023 monsoon paddy and people can communicate with MRF office and wholesalers if there is any difficulty in buying, MRF said.
