Muskmelon zone to be developed for agro-based tourism in Pauk Inn Gyi

The plan is underway to develop muskmelon plantation as muskmelon zone and agro-based tourism industry in Pauk Inn Gyi region, which is symbolic as the sea of muskmelon in Chaung-U and Myaung townships in Sagaing region, said U Soe Lwin, the chairman of Region Watermelon and Muskmelon Growers and Exporters Association.
There are more than 10,000 acres of muskmelon plantation in Pauk Inn Gyi region. So, we are carrying out to implement an agro-based tourism industry and be recognized as a muskmelon zone.
There are 30 muskmelon shops on Mandalay-Pakokku Road. We have also planned to penetrate the international market later. The agriculture experts from Thailand, China, Japan and the United States also observed the muskmelon plantations.
Local visitors are allowed to shoot the photos at muskmelon plantations, pick the fruits by themselves, test the fruit taste, and visit the muskmelon plantations by tractors instead of their vehicles.
