Myanmar advance to next round despite tie with MSAR in World Cup qualifier

Myanmar played a 0-0 draw against Macau in the second leg of the first-round qualifiers in the Asian Zone of the 2026 World Cup at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Macau yesterday.
The Myanmar team, which previously won the first-round home match against the Macau team 5-1, played comfortably in the away match yesterday. Along with the draw, team Myanmar won by 5-1 in aggregates and secured a spot in the next round.
Team Myanmar launched an attack yesterday but stuck to the defence properly. The Macao team played at home, but could not make any difference and ended in a goalless draw after the first half. In the second half, the Myanmar team changed players and attacked high. The Myanmar squad had some more chances to score but could not capitalize on them, so they were satisfied with a draw.
In the second round of qualifiers, Myanmar is included in Group B with Japan, North Korea and Syria. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
