Myanmar advance to Women’s Asian Cup tourney with win over UAE

The Myanmar women’s national football team secured the their place at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, after making a 2-0 victory over United Arab Emirates in their qualifiers at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 24 October, 2021. The Myanmar team got the opening goal even in the first four minutes of the match with a header of Khin Mo Mo Tun.
After that, the Myanmar team controlled the match and UAE team played mainly on counter-attack. In the 22nd minute, the Myanmar team scored the second goal through defender Chit Chit from a corner kick and took the lead with two goals at the end of the first half.
Team Myanmar made many substitutions in the second half.
The substituted players were not able to create goals like in the first half, as the UAE defence did not make any mistakes. As a result, Myanmar only won with goals in the first half.
“Congratulations to all the players who helped make the tournament a success. We have taken the first step. We have to compete against the best teams in the Asian Cup next, so we need to try our best. I already have a plan for what to do after the tourney and I will continue to do so,” said U Tin Myint Aung, head coach of the Myanmar National Women’s Football Team during the post-match press conference.
Myanmar made three straight wins over Lebanon, Guam and UAE in the previous group match to book a ticket to the Final round of the Asian Cup.—GNLM
