Myanmar celebrates 73rd int’l human rights day under COVID-19 regulations

The Myanmar National Human Rights Commission held a ceremony to commemorate the 73rd International Human Rights Day under the COVID-19 rules and regulations yesterday morning in Yangon.
The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Commission U Hla Myint, the Vice – Chairman, Commission members and officials. Chairman U Hla Myint read out the message sent by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on the occasion of the 73rd International Human Rights Day. He addressed the ceremony and introduced the new website of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, www.mnhrc.org.mm. Afterwards, the story of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (animation) was displayed.
Member of the Commission U Paw Lwin Sein clarified the distribution of the 10-year journey history book of the commission and the Chair, the Vice – Chair, and members of the Commission made a plan to distribute the book.
Afterwards, Commission office staff who won prizes in competitions such as poetry competition, essay competition, translation competitions and quizzes were awarded. A total of 50 office staff of the Commission participated in those competitions.
The ceremony was concluded after singing the Commission’s original anthem, “Human Rights for All”. Just as International Human Rights Day is celebrated around the world on 10 December, Myanmar has been celebrating it annually since 2015 under the auspices of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission. — MNA
