Myanmar Chess player Kyaw Myat Aung won a bronze medal in the U-18 event of the 6th Eastern Asia (ASEAN) Youth Chess Championship starting from 4 November in Bangkok, Thailand.
Myanmar’s Sai Han Thiha, Kyaw Myat Aung, and Paing Zeyar Ko, four from Thailand, three from the Philippines, one from Viet Nam, and one from Mongolia competed in seven games of the under 18 event. Kyaw Myat Aung and Sai Han Thiha from Myanmar, Lai Duc Minh from Viet Nam, and Tisado Janmyl Dilan from the Philippines met in the finals. It is reported that the Myanmar sports team is competing with Zaw Ye Htut in the U-16, Thiha Zaw in the U-14, and Hein Thant in the U-10 events.
A total of 80 players from 10 ASEAN countries and Korea, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Mongolia take part in the 6th East Asia Youth Chess Championship.—Bala Soe/GNLM
