Myanmar citizens in Japan urged to contact embassy over natural disaster concerns

Myanmar citizens residing in Japan can seek necessary assistance from the embassy in the event of natural disasters, as announced by the Myanmar embassy.
On 1 January 2024, at approximately 4 pm local time, a powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake occurred, with its epicentre offshore from Ishikawa prefecture, Japan, resulting in significant damage.
Following the earthquake, local authorities issued tsunami warnings for coastal regions, including Niigata, Toyama, Yamagata, Fukui, and Hyogo prefectures.
Myanmar citizens residing in the vulnerable areas are advised to stay informed through update announcements and can reach out for assistance, if needed, by contacting the embassy’s hotline at 070 4413 7383, according to the Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo. — TWA/TRKM
