Myanmar community in Malaysia warned not to go out unnecessarily as arrests continue

Illegal migrant workers in Malaysia are being arrested as an operation, that is why Myanmar community in the country is on alert, warning each other not to go out unnecessarily and avoid revelries.

Along with up to 1000 police, a joint team from the Immigration Department and local police have been carrying out acrackdown on illegal migrant workers as an operation.

Especially, foreigners who are staying without legal documents and businesses which are running without official registration are being cracked down and this is a special operation of Malaysian government, that is why the Centre for ArakanRefugees has suggested Myanmar nationals to bring documents wherever they go, but not to go out if it isn’t necessary and avoid revelries.

Migrant workers are being closely watched almost everywhere. This is a kind of act that the Malaysian government has done politically. If you want to come we advise you to come by legally. If not, you may be scammed when you arrived here. Currently, many arrests are being made,” said a Myanmar national in Malaysia.
