Myanmar defeats Australia in ASEAN U-16 Championship

The first day of the 2022 ASEAN U-16 Championship, Group C, was held yesterday in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and team Myanmar beat Powerhouse Australia 3-2. The Myanmar team, which is in tough Group C, showed good performance and won three points.
Myanmar defeated Australia by scoring several leading goals and winning against the strongest team in the group. Myanmar Head Coach U Aung Zaw Myo used his favourite line-up including goalie Salai Arnt Bwe Maung, Thura Zaw, Han Tun Zaw, Shine Wunna Aung, Myat Phone Khant, Khoon Cho Htoo, Htoo Wai Yan, Saw Myo Zaw, Lin Htet Oo, Kaung Htet, and Bran Dun Li.
From the start of the match, the Myanmar team played an open attack and Saw Myo Zaw scored an opener in the 3rd minute, and Shine Wunna Aung scored the leading goal in the 23rd minute. The Australian team scored equalizing goals in the 39th and 44th minutes to tie the game at two goals apiece in the first half. The Myanmar team was able to respond best in the second half as well, and the winning goal was scored by Pyi Sone Aung in the 73rd minute.
Team Myanmar is falling in Group C with Australia, Malaysia, and Cambodia. Myanmar will play the second match of the group against the Malaysian team on 5 August. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
