Myanmar delegation leaves for 18th World Conference of Historical Cities

At the invitation of the Mayor of Andong, the Republic of Korea, the Myanmar delegation led by Chairman of the Yangon City Development Committee Mayor U Bo Htay left Yangon for the Republic of Korea yesterday morning to attend the 18th World Conference of Historical Cities, which will be held from 14 to 16 November at the Andong International Convention Center in Andong, the Republic of Korea.
Vice Mayor U Nyi Nyi, Secretary U Nyunt Pe and committee members saw off the Myanmar delegation at the Yangon International Airport.
The World Historic Cities Conference is jointly organized by The League Of Historical Cities-LHC with Andong City.
The LHC is an organization established since 1987 to create a picture of peace for future generations and to preserve and promote human heritage and historical cities.
Yangon is not only rich in ancient heritage, but also in terms of history and culture. As a member city of LHC, Yangon is invited to study and share government policies and preservation of Myanmar’s heritage and historical resources due to its unique colonial architecture and many of Southeast Asia’s urban heritage buildings.
The Myanmar delegation led by the mayor of Yangon was accompanied by U Nyan Lin Soe, head of the committee office of the YCDC, and U Lin Khaing, director of the engineering department (roads and bridges).—MNA
