Myanmar exports 250,000 tonnes of rice and broken rice worth US$ 133 mln in March

During the month of March this year, Myanmar exported more than 250,000 tonnes of rice and broken rice, generating export earnings of US$ 133 million, according to the data of the Myanmar Rice Federation.

55 companies exported 147,041 tonnes of rice, 109,996 tonnes of broken rice and 257,037 tonnes in total in March.

Overseas trade was recorded at 252,993 tonnes and border trade at 4077 tonnes.

Indonesia was the largest export destination with 41,000 tonnes of rice, and Myanmar exported 28,645 tonnes, 24,000 tonnes, 9000 tonnes, 8380 tonnes and 36,016 tonnes to Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Belgium, Spain and other countries respectively.

In the broken rice export market, Myanmar supplied 45,022 tonnes, 33,299 tonnes, 10,000 tonnes, 4160 tonnes, 4160 tonnes and 133,55 tonnes to Belgium, China, Spain, the Philippines, Indonesia and 10 other countries respectively.

During the period from April to March, 1,686,259 tonnes of rice worth US$ 845.66 million were exported and the volume of rice and broken rice export dropped in June, July and August, but it started rising gradually again in September with the highest volumes in January and February 2024.

In 2024, Myanmar exported 213,605 tonnes of rice and broken rice worth US$ 110 million in January, 262,116 tonnes worth US$ 139 million in February and 257,037 tonnes worth US$ 133 million in March.
