Myanmar football squad to get Covid tests before world cup qualifiers

National football teams, including Myanmar, will receive the COVID-19 test ahead of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers and 2023 Asian Cup Qualifiers (2nd round), said the tourneys’ organizers.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will hold the remaining 60 group matches of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers and 2023 Asian Cup Qualifiers from 28 May to 15 June. Footballers will be tested before each game to prevent the spread of the disease.
The second round of the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup is being held in eight groups.
Teams will be tested for the virus before arriving from their respective countries. They will be screened at the airport upon arrival in the host country.
The Myanmar national team also has to live up to its medical standards and be tested for the virus before leaving Myanmar and arriving in Japan.
Group F matches involving the Myanmar team will be held in Japan.
The Covid test for the Myanmar team will be performed before the remaining three games against Japan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan teams.
The 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup second round qualifiers have been pushed back for more than a year due to the global outbreak of the pandemic.
The third round of the 2022 World Cup (Asia Zone) and the third round of the 2023 Asian Cup will be held in mid-June. — Ko Nyi Lay/ GNLM
