Myanmar imported over 29,000 tonnes of fertilizer worth US$15.273 million in the third week of December, mostly from Brunei, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Between 17 and 23 December 2022, Myanmar imported over 23,000 tonnes of fertilizer worth $14.862 million in seaborne trade from Brunei (over 15,000 tonnes), China (about 9,000 tonnes), the UAE (over 1,000 tonnes), Canada (over 500 tonnes), Germany (over 300 tonnes) and Italy (over 750 tonnes).
The volume of fertilizer import is, however, up by over 13,000 tonnes compared with that of the previous week.
Meanwhile, the country imported over 1,850 tonnes of fertilizer worth $0.411 million through a cross-border channel during the week ending 23 December, with about over 100 tonnes from Thailand, about 400 from India and about 1,400 from China.
Myanmar brought in over 29,000 tonnes of fertilizer worth $57.279 million by sea and cross-border channels. China was the main supplier of fertilizer then, the Ministry of Commerce stated. — TWA/EMM
