Myanmar U-19 women’s football team slipped the final game of the AFF U-19 Women’s Championship 2023 as they lost 1-2 to Viet Nam in the semifinal played at the Stadium of Palambam, Indonesia yesterday.
Both sides played vigorously to qualify for the final. Team Myanmar had more opportunities to score but failed to make goals several times.
With a turbo play, the Vietnamese team also possessed some chances but Myanmar’s back line and goalkeeper were also able to defend the rivals’ kicks.
Myanmar gained an opening goal even at eight minutes and the goal was beautifully scored by star player Yin Loon Eain.
In 43 minutes of the match, the Vietnamese side took advantage of some mistakes by the Myanmar goalkeeper and the defenders and scored an equalizer.
In the second half, both teams made substitutions, but they did not score again and continued to play extra time. Viet Nam produced their winning goal at 103 minutes of the game and won 2-1 at the final whistle.
After the match, Myanmar team head coach Daw Thet Thet Win expressed her feeling about the match.
“We tried our best in this game. Viet Nam is a strong team. We took the lead, but we had to give back an equalizer and a winning goal. The better team wins.
In the third-place match, we will try to prepare the best for whatever opponent we meet. We are targeting to grab the bronze medal,” said Myanmar’s head coach. The third place and final match will be played on 15 July.
