Myanmar participates in 26th ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting in New Delhi

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that a delegation led by Myanmar Ambassador to India U Moe Kyaw Aung participated in the 26th ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting held in New Delhi, India on 3 May.
During the meeting, Laos, the ASEAN alternate chair for 2024, outlined the ASEAN’s priority plans for 2024. Senior officials discussed enhancing the strategic partnership relations between ASEAN and India across multiple sectors, boosting collaboration in trade, economics, investment, agriculture, energy, education, technology, and tourism for sustainable development and prosperity, and developing improved strategies.
ASEAN senior officials also urged India to cooperate with ASEAN in digitalization, digital economics, and digital communication, given India’s leading position in technology advancement.
mbassador U Moe Kyaw Aung expressed appreciation for India’s efforts in implementing the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) and Narrowing Development Gaps (NDG) for the CLMV countries. He expressed hope for continued collaboration with India for mutual benefit and provided updates on Myanmar’s implementation of the ASEAN consensus five points.
The event was co-chaired by Shri Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, and Mr Albert Chua, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore. Senior officers, delegations from ASEAN countries, and representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat office attended the event. — ASH/TMT
