Myanmar has received offers from foreign countries to place orders for coats and jackets before the winter season, and the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization under the Ministry of Commerce is liaising with local garment industries, according to the ministry’s Deputy Minister U Min Min.
“Recently, the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization has established links between the overseas businesses seeking to place orders for coats and jackets before this year’s winter and local apparel manufacturers,” the deputy minister told at the opening ceremony of the China-Myanmar Bilateral Textile and Machinery Expo 2023 held from 8 to 10 December in Yangon.
He also said the ministry will facilitate the apparel manufacturers in importing new machinery to produce coats and jackets if the businesses can provide the documents required by the relevant rules and regulations.
Garments products in Myanmar are being exported to more than 80 countries, including the US and Germany, and the country earned nearly US$5.3 billion in the 2022-2023 financial year from garment exports. — ASH/TH
