Myanmar Rice Federation purchases 2,500 tonnes of rice from Rakhine State

The Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) purchased 2,500 tonnes of rice from Rakhine State, according to the Rakhine State Rice Millers Association.
As the MRF plans to export 200,000 tonnes of rice to Bangladesh under the agreement the Rakhine State Rice Millers Association have permission to sell 2,500 tonnes of rice to the MRF and is prepared to sell export-quality rice to the MRF.
The sale agreement of the two countries – Bangladesh and Myanmar – is based on the CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight) price at US$465.5 per tonne to Chittagong port. The Rakhine State Millers Association is carrying out negotiations to purchase from the MRF at $400 per tonne.
There are three rice mills in Kyauktaw township, two rice mills in Ponnagyun township and two rice mills in Sittway of Rakhine State and will sell rice produced from the seven rice mills in Rakhine State. — TWA/GNLM
