Myanmar, Thailand to strengthen collaboration for secure, seamless border trade

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Lt-Gen Jakkapong Janpengpen of the Royal Thai Armed Forces emphasized cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand on political trends and between the two armed forces on security trends for ensuring a secure and smooth border trade process.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by Director of Joint Operations of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Lt-Gen Jakkapong Janpengpen at Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

At the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the promotion of existing friendly ties and cooperation between the two countries and two armed forces, cooperation in peace and stability of border region, rule of law, narcotic drug eradication, and eradication of online gambling and online scam and further plans to promote cooperation. They also discussed plans to jointly eradicate online gambling and online scams near Myawady on the Myanmar-Thai border. They also emphasized the promotion of cooperation in humanitarian measures and aid and exchange of information.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and senior military officers.
