Myanmar to participate in “World’s Best Tourism Village Programme-2022”

Myanmar will try to apply for the Best Tourism Village Programme as per the terms and conditions.
Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung made the remarks yesterday afternoon at the Briefing Session of the Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO Online Meeting related to the application of the second time Best Tourism Village Programme-2022 under the leadership of the World Tourism Organizations.
In addition, the Union minister added that Myanmar would cooperate with the World Tourism Organization for the sustainable development of Myanmar’s tourism industry, and asked to continue to provide technical assistance as needed.
At the meeting, Director Mr Harry Hwang of the Asia-Pacific Regional Department said that the Best Tourism Village Programme has been implemented as a pilot project since 2021, and 44 villages from 10 member countries of the World Tourism Organization have been selected as the best tourism villages. He said that today’s online meeting was to prepare for good opportunities for member countries for the second implementation.
Head of Tourism Market Intelligence and Capacity Department of the WTO Ms Sandra Carvao explained issues related to best tourism village planning; vision and objectives; benefits of the programme, and things to follow and assess when applying for the best tourist village selection programmes.
The meeting was organized to discuss the information required to apply online, and programmes to be submitted by participating villages. — MNA
