Myanmar Women’s Team to play int’l friendly matches before Asian Cup

The Myanmar women’s team will play international friendly matches before the 2022 AFC Women’s Cup, to be held earlier next year.
The Myanmar women’s team will start training for the finals of the AFC Women’s Cup in the coming days and will be made up of 25 preliminary players.
The squad will spend more than two months preparing for the tournament, which will be followed by international qualifiers.
Team Myanmar is facing big teams in the Asian Cup and is trying to get a chance to reach the quarter-finals.
Myanmar is combines in Group C together with Japan, South Korea and Viet Nam.
The tournament will be held in India from 20 January to 6 February 2022. The Myanmar women’s team will play against Japan on 21 January, the South Korean team on 24 January, and Viet Nam on 27 January.
Host India is placed in Group A with China, China Taipei and Iran while three ASEAN teams: Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia are in Group B with the powerhouse Australia.
A total of eight teams, including the top two teams from each group and the best two teams from third place, will advance to the quarter-finals. —Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
