Naungtalaw sandbank resort opens in Kachin State to boost tourism

The Naungtalaw sandbank resort, located in the upper part of the Ayeyawady River, has been set up since 2022 for regional tourism development.
The resort was opened again on 23 December 2023 by the Kachin State government and the Kachin State Tourism Entrepreneurs Association. According to Kachin State Tourism Entrepreneurs Association personnel, the first opening was on 18 December 2022.
Every year, when the Naungtalaw sandbank island emerges in the Ayeyawady River, people usually visit and relax on it. Therefore, the island became busy with visitors, shops, and playgrounds in 2015. Now, the Kachin State government and the Kachin State Tourism Entrepreneurs Association have arranged to open a resort on it. Visitors can enjoy playing games on the beach. There are small Manaw grounds where entertainment will be performed.
On the mini beach are food shops and restaurants with traditional Kachin food, bungalows, sports zones, and areas for playing beach futsal soccer, volleyball, Sepak Takraw, golf, and archery.
The report further states that the resort is open daily from 8 am to 6 pm. Arrangements have been made between the regional tourism businesses and the boat association for a convenient trip for visitors who will visit the resort through Myitkyina Town to be able to come from Kachinsu Ward jetty and Kyunbintha jetty.
Last year, approximately one hundred visitors on weekdays and two hundred on weekends visited the beach. — ASH/TMT
