Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman clarifies salient points in People’s Military Service Law

A talk concerning People’s Military Service Law took place in the compound of Nay Pyi Taw Council Office yesterday morning.
At the talk, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo highlighted some fabricated news and misinformation items spread on the media with attempts to undermine peace and stability of the region and cause a panic among the people. According to the law, those learning education, those looking after old parents, State service personnel and those receiving medical treatment among the eligible age of adults for serving the military service will be temporarily suspended for serving, and those inappropriate for serving military service will not be recruited. Currently, there is no plan to recruit women for military services, according to the press release. The first priority for initiating the aspiration of the people to forge the genuine, disciplined democratic system is peace and stability of the nation. As such, the government is implementing the five-point roadmap and nine objectives, he added.
Pyinmana District Administration Body Chairman U Aung Ko Ko Oo and member Col Tun Lin Oo and District Law Officer U Hla Soe clarified matters related to the law.
The Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman viewed lending books to youths by Lewe Township Information and Public Relations Department in Thetkekyin Village and presented cash to the fund of the library.
In Thetkekyin Village-tract, the chairman urged village elders to conduct necessary training courses for youths to have a broader knowledge and organize sports competitions. — MNA/TTA
