Ngwetaung Beach welcomes 36,555 domestic visitors in February

Ngwetaung Beach in Hainggyikyun, Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyawady Region, saw a significant increase in local tourism during February 2024, with 36,555 visitors being recorded. This figure represents a notable rise compared to the previous month.
The beach’s proximity to the Myat Mawtinsun Pagoda attracts both domestic and foreign visitors, making it a popular destination year-round. The majority of visitors in February hailed from Yangon Region and Nay Pyi Taw.
Daw Ni Ni Mar, an Executive Officer of the Myanmar Tourism Federation (Ngwetaung Beach), commented: “The beach welcomed around 1,000 more visitors in February compared to January — a positive trend indeed. As the summer holidays have commenced and the Myat Mawtinsun Pagoda festival approaches, we anticipate a further increase in the number of visitors over the coming months”.
Visitors to the beach can rent bicycles, motorboats, and horses, enjoy locally produced food, and purchase souvenirs. — ASH/NT
