The Myanmar Rowing and Canoeing Federation holds traditional boat race 2022.

An opening ceremony of states and regions traditional boat race 2022 was held by the Myanmar Rowing and Canoeing Federation in Inya Lake in Yangon yesterday at 8 am.
At the opening ceremony, the chief minister of the Yangon Region government said that a total of 355 athletes from 13 male teams and nine female teams participated in the traditional boat race in 2022. Rowing is a sport that uses strength, so, only those who are physically fit and healthy will become a good athletes. He also urged the athletes to behave and train themselves to become national honours athletes to raise the country’s reputation through rowing.
Besides, Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Myo Hlaing said that the rowing sport has successfully achieved among other Southeast Asian countries. This achievement needs to be maintained.
At the ceremony, the athletes took the four-point sports oath. Then, the Yangon region chief minister, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Myo Hlaing, the Yangon region government ministers and officials are kindly greeting to the team members.
A total of 355 athletes from Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Sagaing, Bago, Taninthayi, Ayeyawady regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan states will participate in the boat race. They will take place until 1 February in the evening and the award-giving ceremony will be held after the competition. — MNA
