Over 70,000 baskets of rice seeds set for Rakhine State

The farmers affected by Mocha in Rakhine State will be able to plant rice in time for the rainy season, with the planning and guidance of the National Disaster Management Committee. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is planning to send 73,397 baskets of rice seed.
The permanent secretary and officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation inspected the loading of baskets of rice seeds to the vehicles by Tatmadaw members and Myanmar Police Force members.
Paw San, millet and GW-11 rice seeds, produced by seed farmer groups and seed companies in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, Yangon, Bago, and Ayeyawady regions, will be distributed to rice farmers in Rakhine State before the rainy season. They will be delivered to Sittway using military vehicles. — MNA/KZW
