Software-driven blood management efficient in distribution to 38 hospitals

Software-assisted blood management has demonstrated increased efficiency in handling donors’ data, according to Professor Dr San Sanda Khin of the Pathology and Blood Bank at Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital.
The Blood Management System software stores blood types and donors’ data from the National Blood Centre at Yangon General Hospital and blood banks at 38 general hospitals across the nation.
The professor said: “The software facilitates rapid and efficient retrieval of blood type and other necessary information. With donor data securely kept, we can promptly reach out and request specific blood types when needed” The National Blood Centre in Yangon Region distributed over 93,000 units of blood to 38 general hospitals with the help of the software in 2023. — ASH/NT/ED
