Pensioners to withdraw their unclaimed pension at nearest MEB branches

The Pension Department, under the Ministry of Planning and Finance, has announced that retirees who are unable to withdraw their pensions can apply to retrieve any missing or unclaimed payments at the nearest branches of the Myanmar Economic Bank.

 

The department’s announcement on 6 May stated that retirees whose banking services have been temporarily suspended due to security concerns in the region and those who do not have access to banking services can apply for unclaimed pensions.

 

To enhance convenience for retirees who have been unable to withdraw their pensions for more than one year, starting from 1 April 2021, they will be allowed to apply for pension withdrawals at the nearest branches of the Myanmar Economic Bank as part of a temporary program.

 

In addition, the Ministry of Planning and Finance has also announced that it will provide services for retirees who have not withdrawn their pensions for more than a year despite having access to regular banking services, in accordance with the existing legal procedures. — TWA/TKO
