On the second day of the Inlay PhaungdawU Pagoda Festival, the PhaungdawU Buddha Images arrived at the Helya Ywama Temple on 16 October and will be worshipped for two nights, according to the Board of Trustees.
The Inlay PhaungdawU Buddha Images began their tour around the lake, visiting 21 temples on 15 October after a three-year suspension in Nyaungshwe Township, Shan State (South).
The PhaungdawU Buddha Images commenced their tour from the Yadana Temple to the Shweinntein Village Temple at 7:30 am on 15 October, marking the start of the PhaungdawU Pagoda festival.
The festival was bustling with visitors, including local pilgrims, and featured 20 boats for alms offerings, including barges and decorated boats.
Additionally, the festival includes rowing competitions, such as the men’s over-100-rower, 46-rower, and women’s 26-rower boat races. There is also an Individual Boat Competition.
After spending one night at Shweinntein Temple, the decorated barge carrying Buddha images arrived at Helya Ywama Temple on 16 October and stayed there for two nights.
The remaining 19 temples will be visited on other days, and the PhaungdawU Buddha Images will return to the original Yadana Temple on 1 November. — TWA/MKKS
