The Department of Fisheries recently announced that the preliminary survey work for construction in the offshore Block A3 in the sea of Myanmar is still ongoing and was extended until 15 August. POSCO International Corporation (Myanmar E&P), a joint venture in the oil exploration activities of the Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise is conducting these survey activities with the vessel MV Furgo Equator.
Originally, a reminder for mariners was issued from 1 June to 31 July. However, since the survey work has not yet been completed, the maritime warning has been extended until 15 August.
Within a radius of four kilometers from the location, a maritime warning has been issued, and it is advised that all large and small ships, cargo boats, fishing boats, and motor schooners should avoid passage and anchorage in the area. The Department of Fisheries also issued a notice to cease fishing activities and refrain from placing fishing equipment during this period. — TWA/KZW
