Prevention and control of COVID-19 affect bilateral trade between Myanmar and China, says Vice-Senior General Soe Win

Relevant ministries have been informed to further cooperate with China in line with the policy, law and procedures of Myanmar and prevention and control of rules and regulations of COVID-19, said Chairman of COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win at the coordination meeting of the committee on COVID-19 centre and preventive and control measures of the pandemic at Myanmar-China border cities, yesterday afternoon, held at the office of the SAC Chairman in Nay Pyi Taw.
In his address, the Vice-Senior General said prevention and control of COVID-19 affect the Myanmar-China border trade. The People’s Republic of China gave assistance to Myanmar in controlling COVID-19 of Myanmar and has more plans to assist. Hence, relevant ministries have been informed to further cooperate with China in line with the policy, law and procedures of Myanmar and prevention and control of rules and regulations of COVID-19.
It was known that the prevention and control of COVID-19 hamper the bilateral trade between Myanmar and China. Hence, it is necessary to fully cooperate with China in control of the pandemic in accord with the restrictions. As such, the pandemic would be controllable and preventive, lessening the unacceptable disadvantages.
Hence, the Vice-Senior General invited the participation of relevant officials in discussions on prevention and control of the pandemic, ongoing processes and future plans for control and emergency response to COVID-19 at Myanmar-China bilateral trade.
Leader of the Secretariat of the COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Soe Tint Naing reported on results of bilateral discussions and anticipation for prevention and control of the pandemic related to the bilateral trade between Myanmar and China.
Union ministers U Wunna Maung Lwin, Dr Thet Khaing Win, Dr Pwint San and U Khin Yi, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan and Deputy Minister U Nyunt Aung explained matters related to the relevant sectors.
The meeting ended with a concluding remark by the Vice-Senior General. — MNA
