Rice price drips by K3,500-K10,000 per bag within one month

The rice price in the domestic market has dropped by K3,500-K10,000 per bag (containing 108 pounds) during a month, according to the rice market.
Last November, the rice price for Pawsan (80 marks) fetched K44,600 per bag while Pawsan (90 marks) was K46,700 per bag. Pawkywe (80 marks) rice was priced at K36,200 per bag while Pawkywe (90 marks) hit K37,600 per bag. The price of Emahta rice (80 marks) was sold at K28,000 per bag while Emahta rice (90 marks) was priced at K29,600 per bag.
In December, the price of Pawsan (80 marks) rice reached K35,000 per bag while Pawsan (90 marks) is fetched K36,500 per bag.
The Pawkywe (80 marks) is priced at K32,500 per bag while the Pawkywe (90 marks) is selling for K33,800 per bag. The price of Eaimahta rice (80 marks) is priced K24,000 per bag while Eaimahta rice (90 marks) is fetched K25,500 per bag.
As a result, the price of a 108-pound bag of rice dropped from K3,500 to K10,200 during a month.
Rice prices are falling when the rice from the latest harvest has started entering the markets, according to the rice market.
Currently, the monsoon paddies cultivated in May, June, July and August are harvested and started entering the market these days.

Ayeyawady Pawsan, Shwebo Pawsan, Pawkywel, short-matured rice varieties (90 days) and sticky rice are being sold at a cheaper price between K23,500 and K54,000 per bag.
About one to five 108-pounds bags can be individually purchased.
