Russian Ambassador invites UEC to observe presidential election in March

UEC Chairman U Thein Soe holds talks with Ambassador of Russian Federation to Myanmar Mr Iskander Azizov at UEC office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

U Thein Soe, Chairman of the Union Election Commission, held discussions with Mr Iskander Azizov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and his delegation at the UEC office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
During the meeting, the UEC Chairman highlighted the 76-year longstanding friendship between Myanmar and Russia, dating back to 1948. He mentioned the UEC’s visit to Russia in September 2023 to study local elections and the ongoing preparations to conduct free and fair elections in line with the State Administration Council’s roadmap.
The Russian Ambassador extended an invitation to the UEC Chairman and other high-ranking commission members to visit and study the Russian Federation’s presidential election in March. He outlined the arrangements to facilitate the study tour.
Discussions between the chairman and the ambassador also covered the conditions fostering increased friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Other members and officials of the Union Election Commission also attended the meeting. — MNA/TRKM
