Maha Thingyan festival is held across the nation with the aim of ensuring peaceful minds in dousing each other to wash their souls while mitigating the hotness of summer for the people.
Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) inaugurated the water-throwing pavilion of the 1383 ME Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival on the lawns of Nay Pyi Taw Zeyathiri Golf Course yesterday afternoon in accord with the Myanmar traditions.
They garlanded the attendees at the pavilion.
On behalf of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC members General Mya Tun Oo, Admiral Tin Aung San, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Council Secretary Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dwe, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, Tatmadaw members and their families, and guests.
First, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and the party cut the ribbon to open the pavilion.
Belles from the choral dance troupes performed dances with the song “the auspicious Thingyan” and sprayed the guests with Eugenia sprigs.
The guests were served the Maha Thingyan festival refreshments and entertained with the songs and choral dances by renowned artistes and choral dance troupes.
This evening, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) enjoyed the water-throwing festivals at Seinpan, Magyiyeik and Nay Pyi Taw pavilions near the housings of the Tatmadaw members in the compound of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).
It was reported that choral dance troupes and vocalists would present dances at the pavilions from the Akyo Day to Atet Day of the festival. — MNA
