MSF President U Soe Min Aung meets the media on 2 November 2023.

The Myanmar Seafarers Federation (MSF) will request the Internal Revenue Department to reconsider the advance income tax payment of seafarers before their passport renewal, U Soe Min Aung, the federation president told the media at the MSF office on 2 November.
The Myanmar seafarers encounter delays in the renewal and extension of their passports when they receive calls from their respective companies, and they miss job opportunities, so the advance income tax payment is not convenient for them.
Myanmar passport issuing board made a statement on 16 October that migrant workers and seamen must bring tax clearance certificates granted by the Internal Revenue Department to renew PJ and PS passports. A similar request was also submitted to the Internal Revenue Department for the first time on 20 October, according to MSF. — TWA/KTZH
