Shwedagon Pagoda Trustees Board calls for bid to purchase over 2.4 mln gold foils

Tenders will be invited for over 2,400,000 gold foils to be used in gold foil offering to Shwedagon Pagoda, according to the statement released by Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees on 16 January.
The board stated that 1,000,000 gold foils made by machine and 1,400,000 traditional handmade gold foils will be purchased through bidding.
Rules for the competitive bidding system can be purchased at the board’s office at K10,000 per tender application form and procurement guidelines between 23 and 27 January 2023 within office hours.
Additionally, open tendering for traditional gold foil suppliers will be held at 1 pm on 14 February at the ancient Buddha stupas shrine in the south of the pagoda platform. After that, tender evaluation for gold foil manufacturers will be continued at 3 pm on the same day.—TWA/EMM
