Singaing Agriculture Dept meets with farmers of 200 model acres of extra-long staple cotton

Singaing Township Agriculture Department held discussions with the farmers who execute 200 model acres of extra-long staple cotton at 10 a.m. on 3 October at No. 46 farm yard of U Kan Tin, Natyekan village of Meethwaybok village-tract in Singaing Township, Kyaukse District of Mandalay Region.
At the discussions, U Toe Min, head of Mandalay Region Agriculture Department delivered a remark that the long cotton seeds produced from the model farm in the 2020-2021 financial year will be used for the cultivation next season as pedigree seeds. This model farm aims to produce quality seeds for the following growing season. The department is also implementing the yield enhancement.
Afterwards, U Sai Than Aung, deputy head of the region department shared the know-how of emasculation and dusting technique and demonstrated the seed production. They friendly talked about the detailed production steps with the farmers, inspected the farms and fulfilled the needs.
The township department covered 6,839 acres of long staple cotton and 200 model farms of long cotton for seed production in the 2020-2021 financial year. A total of 41 farmers carried out the model farming with the use of FS seed, Daw Soe Soe said.—Min Htet Aung (Mandalay sub-printing house)/GNLM
