Special ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Energy, ACE Governing Council Meeting conducted

The Special ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Energy-Special SOME and the ASEAN Centre for Energy-ACE Governing Council Meeting were carried out by Cambodia as an alternate chairman through a videoconferencing system on 31 January and 1 February.
The meeting was attended by U Than Zaw, Myanmar Senior Official on Energy- SOE Leader and permanent secretary of the Ministry of Energy, and officials from related departments.
At the Special SOME, the cooperation matters on the energy between ASEAN countries, the second stage of the 2016-2025 ASEAN Energy Sector Cooperation Programme and the cooperation measures performed by Cambodia which served as alternate chairman in 2022 were reviewed and approved.
Next, officials continued on ASEAN energy cooperation sub-sectors: the ASEAN Petroleum Council, Coal and Refinery Technology Division, ASEAN Electric Power Sector, Energy efficiency and energy saving sub-sector, renewable energy sub-sector, regional energy policy and management sub-sector, and urban nuclear power sub-sector plans to continue related to the policy-making body network in the energy sector and promotion sectors of ACE which will be taken responsibilities by Indonesia in 2023 and priority procedures on the energy sector which ran under the ASEAN Economic Community.
In addition, the ACE Governing Council Meeting followed, and ASEAN senior officials on energy confirmed connected activities with partner countries and international partnerships in the Energy Sector for the implementation of ACE’s APAEC 2016-2025. Likewise, financial matters, personnel matters, administrative matters, and procedures for organizing the associated meetings which were to be held jointly with the 41st Ministers’ Meeting on Energy were examined and approved by officials. — MNA/CT
