Staff members of streaming media need to enhance capacity and know its important role

The media industry needs to have a paradigm through modern technology to present good content to the audience in proper and prompt ways, said Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn.
The Union minister gave a keynote speech at the launching of the Workshop on Streaming Technologies and Content Strategy in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

The Union minister continued that currently, the media landscape has witnessed a significant shift with the emergence of streaming technology. Traditional broadcasting is being challenged by streaming platforms due to the rapid technological development and the existence of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. Today, we’re also watching Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Amazon Prime, Google Play and many others. That’s why, the media industry is required to move on with the updated technology to provide its content in a good and rapid way, he added.
As such, he noted that TV broadcasters and content creators need to understand streaming technology and streaming monetary policy, management for the streaming process, feedback of audiences, and presentation of stream content to audiences.
At present, he stressed that most of the media organizations including the Ministry of Information are transitioning to Streaming as you may be aware. Also, Myanma Radio and Television is broadcasting not only traditional media like television and radio but also new media (online platform) like website, MRTV App, Telegram, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Although we are on the right path, we further need to foster streaming technology with a better understanding to meet international standards.
He underscored that the workshop aims to learn the primary differences between traditional media and broadcasting and stream process, strong points and challenges in applying streaming technology, monetary policy strategies for streaming, management for streaming and production, strategies of streaming content, and indicating good examples for transforming the traditional to the streaming TV broadcasting.
Workshop consultant Mr Abhilash Nagabhushana of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development-AIBD extended greetings.
The workshop will last for three days from 1 to 3 November, and Circles. Life Company Director Mr Abhilash Nagabhushana of Singapore will give lectures on the important role of streaming technology, the internet-based streaming process, traditional TV broadcasting, strong points and challenges of streaming technology, streaming monetary policy, work process of the technology, ways to seek contents, impacts of streaming technology on encoding process and streaming quality, guides for metadata, together with lectures of guest speakers from New Zealand, India and Malaysia through Zoom platform.
A total of 55 service personnel from departments and enterprises of the Ministry of Information are attending the workshop.
MRTV of the Ministry of Information joined the AIBD on 29 July 1997 as a full-fledged member in taking part in the media relation realm with regional countries. The workshop aims to enhance the capacity and role of TV broadcasting media for contributing to nation-building endeavours and development undertakings.
The workshop was also attended by Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, departmental heads, Chairman of Myanmar Press Council U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe), programme manager Mr Syed Nabeel Hassan Tirmazi of AIBD and those from TV broadcasting organizations. — MNA/TTA
