KIA and joint forces attacked the security team, which was on security duty near Kantawyan, the Myitkyina-Bhamo main highway, used by the public.
KIA and allied forces also attacked the security post on the Loilem road on 6 October, so Tatmadaw contacted the relevant Peace-Talk Creation Group (PCG) and informed them twice that appropriate responses would be made.
Despite the negotiation by the Tatmadaw, they attacked the Kantawyan Security Station yesterday morning and attempted to control the Myitkyina-Bhamo road by force. In the process, some army officers and soldiers were killed and injured.
Therefore, Tatmadaw had to carry out appropriate counterattacks against the KIA group’s weapons production sites, ammunition and mine production sites and storage sites based on accurate reports from key informants.
The area is close to the border, and the neighbouring country was notified in advance of the inevitable incident, and limited counter-attacks were carried out with restraint. If there are any further acts of violence against the public, the necessary response will be taken. — MNA/KZL
