Tazaungdine Festival draws above 1M visitors to Shan State (South)

According to U Htin Aung Naing, director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Shan State), there were over one million travellers who visited the regions of Shan State (South) during the Tazaungdine Festival, making it the most visited festival in Shan State (South).
“Shan State is the most visited place in our country. Visitors mostly come to Taunggyi, Kalaw, Pindaya, and Inlay regions during the Tazaungdine Festival. They especially enjoy the Taunggyi Tazaungdine Festival. Over 800,000 visitors came to the festival this year. Kalaw and Pindaya also welcomed the travellers. Among them, over 5,000 people are foreign visitors,” added the director.
Of over 400 hotels and motels in Shan State, 337 are currently operating, and the southern part of Shan State attracts travellers throughout the year. Kalaw is developing as a tourist town, and introductory Chinese and Russian language courses are offered to hotel staff to provide customer service without language barriers. — ASH/TRKM
