In the fiscal year of 2023-2024, Bagan Archaeological Museum received more than K71.9 million from 94,951 admissions, said the museum’s deputy director Daw Khet Khet Hla.
“There were 94,951 admissions to the museum from April 2023 to the end of March 2024 in the financial year of 2023-2024, and received more than K71.9 million. That is the total number of visitors, both locals and foreigners,” she said.
Of the visitors, more than K67 million was earned from the admission of 94,295 locals and over K4.8 million from foreigners, she said.
“Foreigner admission is still few. There were about 40 foreign admissions in March and about 23 in February. So the number of local visitors was larger than foreign visitors,” she said. Except for Mondays and public holidays, the museum opens daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, and admission is K1,000 per person for locals and free for children under 12 years old and students who have school recommendations and monks. Foreigner admission fee is K10,000 per person.
There were 328 foreigner admissions out of 83,000 visitors in 2022-23 FY and 656 foreigners out of more than 94,000 visitors in the 2023- 24 FY, she said.
In this year’s travel season, visits to Bagan, Inlay, Kalaw, Chaungtha, and Ngwehsaung have been large, and currently, visitor arrival to Bagan has slightly declined due to the mounting temperature. — MT/ZS/ED
