The cost of applying for temporary residence and work permit known as pink card will be a minimum of 2940 Bahts to a maximum of 3550 Bahts per person for Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand, according to the Ministry of Labour.
Under Thailand government’s decision made in a recent meeting of Myanmar and Thailand Labour ministers in Thailand, the term of temporary residence and work permit has been extended from 1 October 2023 to 13 February 2025 for Myanmar workers who registered to apply.
To obtain a pink card, Myanmar migrant workers need to apply for work permit, undergo health check and buy health insurance before 15 February 2024.
The cost for work permit application is 1450 Baht- 500 Bahts for health check and 1600 Bahts for one-year health insurance provided by the Ministry of Public Health or 990 Bahts for six-month insurance provided by private company, and those who are not registered in social security system will have to buy one-year insurance. Total cost per worker is a minimum of 2940 Bahts to a maximum of 3550 Bahts.
Myanmar Labour Attaché Office in Thailand has currently provided 5 Certificate of Identity (CI) issuing camps and it has also planned to set up 3 mobile teams to facilitate the CI issuing process, according to the ministry. MT/ZS
