Travellers arrivals soar to 170,000 at Ngwesaung Beach in Ayeyawady Region from January to August this year

Ngwesaung Beach, an enchanting haven for tourists in Ayeyawady Region, warmly welcomed over 170,000 visitors, both domestic and international, from January to August 2023. The majority of those tourists hailed from China, India, and Russia, as reported by Assistant Director U Soe Win of the Ngwesaung Branch under the Ayeyawady Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
The allure of Ngwesaung Beach extends far and wide, captivating travellers both near and far with a choice of accommodation at 31 hotels and six guest houses, totalling an impressive 37 establishments offering a grand total of 1,831 rooms.
“During the high season from January to August this year, more than 170,000 local and foreign travellers paid visits to Ngwesaung Beach. Among them, a total of 1,622 travellers came from China, 597 from India, 196 from Russia, 180 from Japan, 141 from Thailand, and 99 from the United States of America, totalling 6,855 visitors during this period. Additionally, an impressive 265,830 local travellers chose Ngwesaung Beach as their preferred destination,” he explained.
Furthermore, the directorate has taken proactive steps to enhance the overall tourist experience. They’ve set up information counters to provide essential guidance on hotels and tourism services during the open season. In addition, they’ve organized tourism awareness seminars to discuss and promote ASEAN tourism standards.
Local authorities have also issued directives to all hotels and guest houses, urging them to maintain cleanliness in their vicinity. They are encouraged to enhance the beauty of the landscape and sidewalks, and most importantly, to provide catering services featuring delicious domestic cuisines to their esteemed guests.
