Two ASEAN-level Futsal competitions to be held this year

LOCAL NEWS

The ASEAN Football Federation will host both ASEAN Futsal Championships this year, according to the federation officials.
The football federation will hold the ASEAN Futsal Championships for its member countries and ASEAN Futsal Club Championship for ASEAN Futsal clubs. The COVID-19 pandemic has prevented some competition in recent years.
The ASEAN Futsal Championship was cancelled in 2020 and 2021, and the ASEAN Futsal Club Championship could not be held in 2020 but was resumed in 2021.
Myanmar teams are competing in both tournaments.
Myanmar national Futsal team will compete in the ASEAN Futsal Championship, while the team that wins the domestic Futsal league will be sent to the ASEAN Futsal Club Championship.
The ASEAN Football Federation is scheduled to host the ASEAN Futsal Championship in April and the ASEAN Futsal Club Championship in August in Thailand.
The ASEAN Futsal Championship was launched in 2001 and the Myanmar team started competing in 2006.
This year will be the 17th edition with Thailand winning 15 times and Indonesia winning once. The Myanmar team won the second and third twice and reached the finals for the first time in 2016.
The ASEAN Futsal Club Championship was launched in 2015 and Myanmar clubs have competed in all but not in 2021 competitions.
In all six previous events, only Thai clubs have won and the Myanmar Futsal club MIC team won the third prize in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.
