The meeting of the Working Committee on Supervision of the United Nations Organizations and International Non-Governmental Organizations (1/2021) under the Central Committee on Supervision and Protection of Foreigners was held in virtual format from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday afternoon.
During the Meeting, U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for International Cooperation, in the capacity of Chairman of the Working Committee on supervision of the UN Agencies and International Non-Governmental Organizations, underlined the importance of coordination not only with the relevant agencies but also among the Union Ministries and departments concerned from the States and Regions. He also mentioned that humanitarian assistance and development assistance were interlinked with each other and it was therefore necessary to take into account of both perspectives in receiving assistance programme.
Subsequently, the members of the said-committee discussed current cooperation programme through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and coordination with relevant agencies in registration, reporting and evaluation process.
Furthermore, the secretary and the co-secretary of the committee, the Director-General of International Organizations and Economic Department and the Director-General of Foreign Economic Relations Department, suggested plans for more effective coordination in the future.—MNA
