Union Minister U Ko Ko donates rice to monasteries, nunneries in Dekkhinathiri, Zabuthiri townships

A rice donation to the monasteries and nunneries was held at Dhamma Vijita Beikman Taw of Maha Vijitayon Pariyatti Monastery in Zabuthiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Five monks, including Chairman of Dekkhinathiri Township Sangha Nayaka Committee Presiding Sayadaw Baddanta Pandita of Nyaung Kone Monastery, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, Deputy Permanent Secretaries attended the ceremony.
Firstly, the Union Minister and party took five precepts from Presiding Sayadaw Baddanta Pandita of Nyaung Kone Monastery.
Then, the Union Minister presented religious affairs to the Sayadaws, including purification and propagation of the Sasana starting 8 February following the COVID-19 health rules and rice donation to monasteries and nunneries to fulfil the needs, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Union Minister and party donated the offertories to the monks and shared merits when Sayadaw Baddanta Uttara of Shar Taw Monastery finished preaching sermons. The Union Minister and party donated a total of 138 rice bags for the monasteries and nunneries in Dekkhinathiri Township and 244 rice bags for monasteries in Zabuthiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw. — MNA
